With its proximity to Center City, Fairmount Park, and the Philadelphia
Art Museum, its strong community spirit, great amenities, and beautiful
historic housing stock, the Fairmount neighborhood has become a much
sought-after place to live. Yet, the neighborhood’s character is also
defined by families who have lived here for many generations.
Fairmount CDC seeks to foster appropriate and beneficial development
while preserving the neighborhood’s essential character. Fairmount
CDC's service area is bounded by two commercial corridors (Girard &
Fairmount Avenues), Fairmount Park, and the Eastern State Penitentiary
(Corinthian Avenue).
