Community Projects

Community Projects

The Fairmount CDC sponsors a number of community projects designed to foster appropriate and beneficial development while preserving the neighborhood’s essential character. Below are our major recent initiatives:

Neighborhood Plans

The Fairmount CDC commissioned a Fairmount Neighborhood Plan in 2003 with support from Wallace Roberts and Todd. In 2010, we updated this plan to reflect the accomplishments and changing needs of the neighborhood. The Fairmount CDC has also partnered with the Greater Brewerytown CDC to complete a comprehensive Brewerytown Neighborhood Plan with support from the Wachovia Regional Foundation. Also available is the Francisville Plan, our neighbors to the east. Click here for more information.

Vital Neighborhoods

Vital Neighborhoods is a set of projects aimed at stabilizing moderate to middle-income neighborhoods essential to a neighborhood’s economic well-being. The program is administered by the Preservation Alliance. In 2009 projects included a new community garden, residential streetscape improvements, and the restoration of a veteran’s memorial park. Green & Clean

Fairmount CDC is dedicated to making Fairmount a cleaner and greener neighborhood. To achieve this goal, the Fairmount CDC sponsors commercial corridor cleaning, seasonal tree plantings, and community cleanups. For details on each of these, click here.

Public Art

In collaboration with the City of Philadelphia’s Mural Arts Program the Fairmount CDC has been able to or is planning to install three new public works of art in our neighborhood. For information on each, click here.
