Public Art

In collaboration with the City of Philadelphia’s Mural Arts Program we have been able to introduce three new murals to the neighborhood. Below is a short description of each.

Poplar Street Bridge

The Poplar Street Bridge was completed in October of 2009 and acts as a safer, cleaner, and brighter way for Fairmount residents and visitors to access Fairmount Park. The mural consists of 72 panels directly installed into insets of the existing bridge. A community engagement process was used to pick what images would be used in the mural.

24th & Fairmount Avenue

The mural currently being installed on the side of The Bishop’s Collar at 24th Street and Fairmount Avenue will act as a gateway to Fairmount Park and provide easy access for visitors and residents to the Fairmount Ave commercial corridor. The mural consists of a coal base and features a scene from along the Schuylkill River Trail.

Girard & College Avenue

This mural will act as a gateway for those traveling through the Girard Avenue commercial corridor. It combines the past, present, and future highlights of the Brewerytown neighborhood and other icons unique to this area.
