Community Events
The Fairmount CDC sponsors a number of events aimed at building community amongst neighbors, highlighting all of our neighborhood assets, and embracing our strong commitment to the arts.
Fairmount Fling
The Fairmount Fling is the largest annual fund raiser for the Fairmount CDC and proceeds benefit neighborhood improvement projects, small business support, greening initiatives, and other community events. The night is complete with live and silent auctions, raffle prizes, free beer and wine, music, guest speakers, recognition of fellow neighbors, and a “Taste of Fairmount” featuring generous samples from over 20 area restaurants.
Fairmount Arts Crawl
The Fairmount Arts Crawl is an annual event that attracts over 4,000 residents, visitors, and art lovers alike to the Fairmount neighborhood. Come and stroll down the avenue visiting over 37 different businesses-turned-art-venues housing over 70 installations. Along the way enjoy music, dancing, kids activities, live demonstrations, and so much more!
Art + Soul Food
Art Plus Soul Food is an annual event in Philadelphia’s Brewerytown neighborhood highlighting local artists as well as local institutions along West Girard Avenue. The event is a celebration of art, soul food, and the local community. It’s presented in part by the Fairmount CDC, the Greater Brewerytown CDC, the Girard Coalition, the West Girard Business Association, and the West Girard Community Council.
Bastille Day
Complete with a street festival, pet parade, costume contest, kid activities, and so much more the day is always a Fairmount favorite. The street festival is topped off with the annual Storming of the Bastille when Marie Antoniette tosses Tastykakes over the side of Eastern States’ walls.
