The Fairmount Arts Crawl is an annual event that attracts over 4,000 residents, visitors, and art lovers alike to the Fairmount neighborhood. Come and stroll down the avenue visiting over 45 different businesses-turned-art-venues housing over 70 installations. Along the way enjoy music, dancing, kids activities, live demonstrations, and so much more!
What’s New for 2012…
Artist Alley: An Expanded Arts Crawl!
Each year we try to make the Fairmount Arts Crawl bigger and better than the last! This year, in order to expand the number of artists we can accomodate we will be introducing the new “Artist Alley” down 22nd Street between Fairmount and Aspen. Now you can enjoy artwork both inside and out!
Celebrate Local Art & Local Food
In celebrating the influx of new restaurants to the Fairmount neighborhood, artist Alison Dilworth will be featured at La Calaca Feliz. Dilworth, who painted the Day of the Dead themed murals that now decorate the restaurant’s walls, will be on hand to discuss her work. The collaboration demonstrates the splendid combination of local eats and local art.
Ukrainian League to Host 9 Moore College of Art Students
The Ukrainian League of Philadelphia will host nine Moore College of Art and Design graduate students and their work during the Fairmont Arts Crawl. Their work covers a variety of disciplines from bookmaking and encaustics, to metals and video. The emerging artists will be available to discuss and sell both past and current works.
Debut of Fairmount Artist Network
George Apotsos Gallery will feature artists from the newly formed Fairmount Artist Network. The network was formed in 2011 as a way for local artist/neighbors to meet and foster a community of art-creating, art-loving and art-supporting individuals. The exhibition marks the first annual show and features 8 core members.
Blue Moon Live Canvas Painting
Blue Moon, a sponsor of the 2012 Fairmounts Arts Crawl, will have their official muralist help festival attendees craft a unique piece of Blue Moon art to highlight the artistic approach they take to brewing. The canvases created by the community will then be displayed in neighborhood bars and restaurants.
