BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT: Angelino's Restaurant

This month’s GAMBA business spotlight features Angelino's Restaurant, an Italian restaurant known for Good Pasta-Good Pizza-Good People.

Tell Us About Your Business!

Angelino’s (new owners since 2019) is a locally-owned family restaurant serving authentic, thin crust pizzas, and a variety of pasta dishes. We also have a large lunch menu with sandwiches, cheesesteaks, burgers, salads, wraps and much more! Our mission is to serve our neighborhood, delivery customers and visitors alike, consistently good Italian-American food, at a reasonable cost, in a family-friendly atmosphere.

What Makes You Stand Out?

We are known for our hand-tossed, authentic deck oven pizzas and signature garlic crust as well as our marinara and vodka sauce. All sauces are made in-house. Our pastas are from Italy, and favorite dishes include penne with prosciutto in a vodka sauce, shrimp and crabmeat over capellini pasta, chicken parmesan with spaghetti, and house-made lasagna.

Angelino’s has been voted “neighborhood favorite” on Nextdoor.com five years in a row, and in September 2020, earned a great pizza review score (see the video!) from the famous Dave Portnoy of BarStool Sports. We encourage you to read our Google, Grubhub, and Yelp reviews that often mention our good service, and welcoming attitude!

Why Do You Love Working in the Art Museum District?

As long-time residents of Fairmount, (30+ years!) we cherish the old neighborhood spots and the friendships we have made with our dine-in, pick-up and delivery customers over the years. We enjoy spending time with people who grew up in the neighborhood, and we love meeting the new families moving to our great neck of the woods! Although we deliver in 23 different zip codes, it is because of our Fairmount- Art Musuem neighborhood and loyal patrons that Angelino’s continues to stand.

Tell us about your founder. What was their inspiration for opening the business?

Angelino’s has been a long-standing neighborhood favorite, in the Art Museum / Fairmount section of Philadelphia, serving the Fairmount neighborhood and beyond since 2006. Keeping the same name, but under new ownership, (previous employees) the restaurant reopened in the Spring of 2019.

Before becoming Angelino’s, it was the beloved Beatto’s sandwich shop from 1954 to 1990 owned by George Beatto, an army veteran of World War II. We are honored to continue the tradition of this neighborhood gem, known by many who have grown up in the Fairmount- Art Museum district.
