Whether you’re a fashion pro or just getting started, Tia Whitfield has the store for you.
Retro Rewind Vintage and Thrift Boutique is coming up on its 4 month anniversary in Brewerytown but Tia has been in fashion since she was in high school. Getting her start as a teen styling the mannequins in Marshall’s, Tia has since worked in menswear for Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, and Saks 5th Avenue.
She had always wanted to own a vintage boutique but needed a place to do it. That’s where her creativity comes in.
In 2018 Tia was driving home from work when she saw a vintage bread truck on the side of the road. She went back the next day to buy it and Retro Rewind was born as a mobile boutique. Over the next four years, Tia took the mobile boutique to college campuses and farmer’s markets around the city.
Retro Rewind opened as a brick and mortar store in Brewerytown in May 2023. Tia’s face lights up when she talks about the community, especially the neighbor who brings mints and snacks for her customers every week. “You can’t find that anywhere. That’s Brewerytown in a nutshell.”
From first dates to interviews, Tia helps her customers find their personal style. “What I like to do is bring in what’s current and what’s on trend but bring it in the retro vibe.”
As far as what’s in trend right now, Tia advises vibrant colors, patterned trousers, and cowboy boots. You can find that and more at Retro Rewind, open Tuesday to Saturday 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.
