Neighborhood News and Notes

Cannot wait to see everyone at the Girard Avenue Street Festival on October 1! We'll be celebrating lots of new openings in the neighborhood - the latest include Harper's scoop shop at 2827 West Girard, plus I Scream For Ice Cream and All Day Hoagies at 2809 West Girard - as well as long-time businesses.

Before then our next Greater Art Museum Business Alliance meetup will be Tuesday, September 20 - email me for more information or visit fairmountcdc.org/gamba to become a member. In other neighborhood news, Eastern State Penitentiary's Halloween Nights are returning, from September 23 through November 12. Libertee Grounds earned a shoutout from the Inquirer's Mike Klein for their distinction as "one of the most creative bar menus in the city."

Lastly, We are looking for a new team member. Spread the word about our Community Development Manager position and the September 21 application deadline. And join us in congratulating Fairmount CDC's first PhillyiHub class of aspiring entrepreneurs graduated last week - you can read more about the FREE program, and apply to join at fairmountcdc.org/phillyihub.

GAMBA Meet Up September 20th

The Greater Art Museum Business Alliance will host a Meet Up for neighborhood business-owners on Tuesday evening September 20th. Please email psherlock@fairmountcdc.org if you'd like to attend.

We are excited to be back in-person and able to create space for businesses to network with each other and share their ideas, questions, successes, and concerns. Through this event, Fairmount CDC hopes facilitate connections between GAMBA members while learning more about you, your businesses, and how the Greater Art Museum Business Alliance can better serve you through specific programming and support.

Join our Team!

We're hiring a Community Development Manager to partner with the Executive Director creating community dialogue and events, supporting a vibrant local economy, and helping the neighborhood thrive.

What You Need to Know About the Girard Avenue Trolley Track Renewal Project

This fall, SEPTA will begin the Girard Avenue Trolley Track Renewal project. We're sharing details to help our community navigate the upcoming changes. It's important to note that while the Avenue will be closed in two-block increments for 2-4 weeks each, the sidewalk will remain open and available throughout. So you'll definitely be able to access your favorite Girard Avenue businesses during the construction process.
