Dear neighbors,
Please join us in welcoming Mignon Verdell, who will serve as the Business Services Manager at Fairmount CDC. I am very excited to have Mignon as a partner and advocate for the community's business leaders, workers, and entrepreneurs. Mignon's creativity and drive will raise our potential, and I am eager for everyone to meet her!
In this role, Mignon will work with members of GAMBA and other area entrepreneurs to create community through networking and business services and support. Her goal is to engage and elevate the business community, holding space for existing and prospective business owners to contribute to the growth and change of the Art Museum District.
Mignon is a resident of West Philadelphia and a tireless advocate for making Philadelphia greener and more accessible to all residents. Prior to Fairmont CDC, Mignon worked as a human services professional focusing on non-profit program design and implementation, operations, and outreach. Mignon was introduced to the non-profit sector through her work at a local hospital foundation, where she gained experience in fundraising and event coordination. She continued in her non-profit work as an outreach coordinator at a regional food bank, eventually moving into grant management for city-based youth workforce development programs.
Currently, she is in her third term as a member of SEPTA's Citizens' Advisory Committee, a volunteer transit advocacy group. She belongs to the Viola Street Community Garden and enjoys everything about gardening, plants, and native landscapes. She enjoys exploring new restaurants and pop-ups across the city, coaching youth soccer and baking.
She'll be in touch in the days and weeks to come. If you'd like to drop her a note, feel free to contact her at mverdell@fairmountcdc.org.
Sincerely,
Patrick Sherlock
